Triathlete completes Ironman in his back garden.

20th April 2020

On Sunday April 19th, Triathlete Richard Groome swam 2.4 miles (tethered) in a paddling pool, rode 112 miles on a Wattbike and ran 26.2 miles around his garden in Lea to raise money for Malmesbury and District Foodbank. Richard started at 7am and completed the task at 9pm. Although it was a nice day for us, Richard found that cycling on a static bike got quite hot, and that running around his garden 420 times was more difficult than he had imagined.

However, he completed the task and so far with fundraising from various sources has raised over £2,750 – a quite remarkable total. Fundraising is still open if you wish to contribute. Please click here.

Pictured below is Richard’s garden with him in the middle of his bike ride.
