About

About our foodbank

The foodbank in Malmesbury was started in 2014 and is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. We serve an area loosely described as Malmesbury and District which covers the Malmesbury and the surrounding villages.

A foodbank centre in Cricklade was started in November 2019, and is now based at the Jenner Hall, Bath Road.

In April 2022, the Malmesbury Distribution Centre was relocated to the Old School Room in the Town Hall.

Of necessity, all the food that we store in our warehouse is long-life food – tins, dried food, toiletries, etc. However, in March 2016 we  introduced a Fresh Food Card system, which was initially funded by the Malmesbury Carnival Committee. Clients receive vouchers which can then be exchanged for fresh food. For clients using the Malmesbury Foodbank Centre, these are for use at the local Coop stores, and for clients of the Cricklade Foodbank centre, these are for use at the local Tescos store, or the Purton Coop store.

The foodbank is run entirely by volunteers, and if you would like to get involved, or just to ask for further information, then please use the form below.
